WRBA RETURNS FOR 2012

Following a successful kickoff in 2011, the Windsor Royals Baseball Academy will return in 2012 – bigger and better!  Running for 15 weeks from August until mid-November on Monday evenings, the academy will now include both U12/U14 (5-7pm) and U16/U18 (6:30-8:30 pm) age groups.  Headed by former Olympian and Australian player Tony Thomson and former Brisbane Bandit Captain and now current Bandit Coach, and Windsor Junior Development officer Shayne Watson, the Academy will focus on developing baseball skills, fitness and having fun.

Here’s what some of the players and their parents thought of the inaugural academy:

“The Academy has been lots of fun and the coaches were great. I also enjoyed training with the older kids so I could watch and learn from them”

“I liked the yard ball / running session / batting ...all of it really”

“My overall skills and knowledge of the game have improved because of the different types of training sessions and the chance to work with specialist coaches.”

“Awesome coaching, really well organised”

“The Academy has identified a point of difference for Windsor that reinforces its positive and professional reputation in the local and wider-Brisbane baseball community. Everything from the specific uniform to the various specialist fitness and skills sessions highlight the professional and committed contribution of those who made the Academy possible.”

Here’s what we have planned for 2012.

A Trophy presentation day will be held on the 24th March 2012 for all TBall, Rookie Ball, Little League, U14, U16 & U20 teams at the WR Club.

A free sausage sizzle will be available for the kids - the canteen will also be open for burgers, drinks etc.

The TBall, Rookie Ball & LL presentation will commence at 4pm and the U14, 16 & 20 will start at 6pm.

Team photos will also be handed out during the presentation.

Come on down, grab a burger, and watch the kids enjoy themselves when they receive their trophy.

Mums and Dads, bring your glove and throw a ball with your children on the main diamond - you will be surprised how much enjoyment you will both get from it.

Several Special Guests from the Baseball community will be attending and be available for you to talk to so you can find out more about the sport - click on "read more"

The Committee has agreed to the following charges for any external organisation that wants to use the main field at Windsor Royals.

  • 6 hours $80 (daytime only - no lights)
  • 3 hours $50 (daytime only - no lights)
  • 3 hours $110 (night time with lights)
  • 2 hours $30 (daytime only - no lights)

This is only for external groups where WR players are apart of them.

There are considerable costs associated with maintaining a main diamond and the more the field gets used the more it costs.

Availability will be dependant on scheduled and sanctioned WR games and training sessions - these will always have priority.

In the past few months the BCC have done a lot of repair and maintanance work at the Windsor Royals Club.

The work done has been invaluable to the club by reducing considerable future costs associated with running a sporting facility.

The Club and every member has and will benefit from everything the Brisbane City Council has done for us.

Even though much of the work that was completed has gone unnoticed, the actual amount of work completed is considerable.

Please click on "read more" for a list of some of what was achieved.

Thank you very much to the Brisbane City Council and the builders "Box & Co" for everything they have done.

These are the minimum requirements and responsibilities of each Coach / Manager whenever their team plays at home - click on "read more" for specifics.

Failure to do so has a major impact on the other teams.

Please respect your fellow club members and club property.
