WRBA RETURNS FOR 2013
The Windsor Royals Baseball Academy will be returning for its third season in 2013. Running for 15 weeks from August until mid-November on Monday evenings, the academy will again include both U12/U14 (5-7pm) and U16/U18 (6:30-8:30 pm) age groups. Headed by Tony Thomson (former Olympian, Australian and Brisbane Bandits player) and Shayne Watson (former Brisbane Bandits captain and current third base Coach, Windsor Junior Development officer), and helped out by Windsor Major League players such as Brent Young (former Australian AAA) and Ryan Searle (Chicago Cubs, 2013 Australian WBC and Bandits pitcher) the Academy will focus on developing baseball skills, fitness and having fun. The Academys success is reflected by the achievements of its players; of the 51 Academy members that have participated over the first two seasons, almost half (21) have represented the Brisbane Metropolitan Region in the State Titles, 7 have played in the Australian National Little League or Youth Championships, and one has represented Australia in the Cal Ripken World Series.
